Cooking: Solar Cooker with Phase Change Material
Auteurs: Karamjeet Saini, Gagandeep Harvinder Singh, Avadhesh Yadav
Date publication: 2014-12-01
Journal: CRC Press
The thermal performance of a solar cooker with phase change thermal storage unit based on a parabolic trough collector was investigated. In this experimental setup, a one-ended open vacuum tube was used as receiver, and solar radiations were focused on it. The available solar heat at the receiver was transferred to the solar cooker by natural circulation (thermosiphon) of the heat transfer fluid. Water and thermal oil (engine oil) were used separately as heat transfer fluids. Commercial-grade acetanilide was used as latent heat storage material in the solar cooker. In daytime, the transfer of...

Global supply chain and port/terminal: integration and competitiveness
Auteurs: Dong-Wook Song, Photis M. Panayides
Date publication: 2008-02-01
Journal: IGI Global
Much has been said of the importance of port and terminal integration in the supply chain. Authors have stressed the importance of agility to the port environment, which involves being proactive along supply chains, facilitation of intermodal integration, as well as organizational integration and partnership between ports and users. Despite the well articulated importance of the issues, little has been offered in terms of conceptualizations and empirical evidence of what really is meant by port/terminal integration in the supply chain, how such integration can be measured and quantified as wel...

In the last decades, a large focus is being placed on the sustainability and safety of the power transformer spectrum. Ester liquids, which have interesting properties such as high fire point and biodegradability, are gaining needed attraction. Since in-service condition, thermal aging deteriorates the physicochemical and electrical properties of liquid dielectrics, it is important to study their long-term behavior. In this contribution, the pre-breakdown and breakdown behavior of ester fluids (synthetic and natural) under AC stress are investigated. Important characteristics, such as partial...

Cyanidation of Gold-Bearing Ores
Auteurs: Sadia Ilyas
Date publication: 2018-02-19
Journal: CRC Press
Cyanidation of gold was a milestone in gold metallurgy, which can be considered a golden development in the processing of gold bearing ores. Cyanidation has been a tremendous help in gold extraction because the previously used technology of amalgamation and chlorination yielded only 55%–65% extraction efficiency from the ores containing finer particles. The gold cyanidation process for its extraction from ore bodies involves heterogeneous reactions at the interfaces of solid and liquid. The rate of gold leaching in cyanide solution increases linearly with respective increase in cyanide concent...

Pricing teak plantations at any age of stand growth: what implications for rural communities in Côte d'Ivoire
Auteurs: B. G. Jean Jacques Iritié
Date publication: 2020-01-01
Journal: Inderscience Publishers
This paper aims at determining the price or market value of teak plantations at different ages of stand growth in Côte d'Ivoire. To do, we use both cost price values and expectation values methods. The data required for estimation are on silviculture, teak growth model, expenditures, receipts and discount rate; we consider three main phytogeographic areas (wet forest, pre-forest, savannah). Our results show that teak plantations have significant annual monetary values since the establishment of plantations until clear-cut, whatever the area; the tables of estimated annual values can be used as...
