Optimization of Inter-Domain Routing and Resource Allocation in Elastic Multi-Domain Optical Networks
Auteurs: KIE Eba Victoire, Nogbou Georges Anoh, Joël Christian Adépo, BABRI Michel
Date publication: 2022-06-28
Journal: EverScience Publications
At the national level, Telecommunications systems are generally organized into several interconnected autonomous domains. When transmitting data between interconnected domains, the blocking probability of network can be high due to the complexity of management and management policies at the domain level. Therefore, the question it raises is how to optimize inter-domain routing between different autonomous systems? The optimization of the inter-domain routing can be realized from several criteria related to the interconnection links, namely: the fragmentation rate, the energy consumed, the link qu...

Bandwidth Optimization for Multicast Transmissions in Virtual Circuit Networks
Auteurs: Vincent Reinhard, Joanna Tomasik, Dominique Barth, Marc-Antoine Weisser
Date publication: 2009-01-01
Journal: Springer Berlin Heidelberg
AbstractThe CARRIOCAS project aims to guarantee QoS connectivity services to distributed applications in a Telecom carrier network. A large number of these applications (for example video applications) use a multicast service packet delivery. Multicast which minimizes the total used bandwidth in the MPLS network has become an important subject. We study multicast routing in the network where only some routers can duplicate packets. We prove that the construction of a multicast tree minimizing the bandwidth used in such a network is a NP-complete problem and we propose an heuristic algorithm to...

Original Strategy for Verbatim Collecting Knowledge from Mostly-Illiterate and Secretive Experts: West Africa Traditional Medicine’s Case
Auteurs: Kouamé Appoh, Jean-Baptiste Lamy, Kroa Ehoulé
Date publication: 2024-01-01
Journal: The Science and Information Organization
80% of least developed countries populations rely on traditional medicine (TM). West Africa is not left outdone. Multilingualism is very manifest. Additionally, TM practitioners (TMP) commonly desire to keep secret their knowledge. Illiteracy affects the vast majority of TMP in this region. Thus, exchanges between practitioners for knowledge and experience sharing are severely hindered by multilingualism, illiteracy and secretiveness. The reliability and relevance question of the data and knowledge gathered from these practitioners is therefore raised. Conventional data collection methods are...

Palmer amaranth (<i>Amaranthus palmeri</i>) control affected by weed size and herbicide spray solution with nozzle type pairings
Auteurs: Koffi Badou‐Jeremie Kouame, Thomas R. Butts, Jason K. Norsworthy, Jason Davis, Leonard B. Piveta
Date publication: 2023-12-22
Journal: Cambridge University Press (CUP)
Abstract Palmer amaranth can grow 4.2 mm in height per degree day; hence, delays of a few days in weed control deployment can result in applications of herbicides to weeds that are larger than those for which the herbicide label recommends. Therefore, it is critically necessary to understand the effect of plant size at the time of herbicide application in conjunction with herbicide spray solution and nozzle type pairings on the effectiveness of weed management programs in the Enlist E3 and XtendFlex production systems. Field experiments were conducted in 2020, in no-crop conditions, at two loc...

Histo- and cytopathology of trunk phloem necrosis, a form of rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis Müll. Arg.) tapping panel dryness
Auteurs: Elisabeth de Faÿ
Date publication: 2011-01-01
Journal: CSIRO Publishing
Trunk phloem necrosis (TPN) is a physiological disease of rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis Müll. Arg.) discovered in the 1980s. It has been distinguished from rubber tree tapping panel dryness (TPD) by its macroscopic symptoms and presumed origin. But little attention has been paid to its microscopic features, and there is now some evidence that both syndromes could be linked to an impaired cyanide metabolism. In order to characterise TPN and compare it with TPD microscopically, the inner phloem of tapping panels was investigated by light and transmission electron microscopy in healthy trees an...

Parameter estimation of one-dimensional diffusion process by minimum Hellinger distance method
Auteurs: Julien Apala N’drin, Ouagnina Hili
Date publication: 2013-01-01
Journal: Walter de Gruyter GmbH
We study the estimation of parameters of one-dimensional diffusion processes that are discretely observed. We construct an estimator of the parameters based on the minimum Hellinger distance method. Under conditions which ensure the ergodicity and geometrically α-mixing of the Markov process, we establish the almost sure convergence and the asymptotic normality of the estimator.

Parameters affecting the electrical and thermal properties of transformer oils
Auteurs: Janvier Sylvestre N'Cho, L. Loiselle, I. Fofana, Abderrahmane Béroual, T. Aka-Ngnui
Date publication: 2010-10-01
Journal: IEEE
Transformer oil is expected to function as an insulating medium and heat transfer agent. In this contribution, contaminants that mostly influence the electrical and thermal properties of transformer oil are addressed. To access the influence of the type of impurities on oil properties, various scenarios were considered. Investigations were therefore performed on new oil, new oil submitted to electrical stress, service-aged oil, reclaimed (by Fuller's Earth) service-aged oil, dehumidified service-aged oil, dehumidified and degassed service-aged oil. The influence of each type of "contaminant" i...

Parameters affecting the static electrification of aged transformer oils
Auteurs: Janvier Sylvestre N'Cho, I. Fofana, Abderrahmane Béroual
Date publication: 2011-10-01
Journal: IEEE
In this contribution, experimental investigations onto the factors affecting the static electrification of aged transformer oils are undertaken. The effect of aging byproducts (as assessed by Dissolved Decay products, Turbidity, Interfacial Tension and Acid number) of the oil on the streaming current is reported. The results indicate that the electrification currents generally increase with aging by-products of oil. The sign, the amplitude and the time constant of the electrification currents are also affected. The influence of each "impurity" is emphasized and discussed.

Guinea fowl production is increasing in developing countries and has a crucial role in the fight against poverty. However, the feed cost is very high, especially the soya bean meal cost, and farmers cannot afford to buy commercial feed. Consequently, animals do not receive feed adapted to their nutritional needs and they exhibit poor performance. The aim of this paper is to partially substitute soya bean meal by local by-products, discarded, in abundant supply and not used in human nutrition. French Galor guinea fowl (Numida meleagris) and local African guinea fowl (150 birds per breed) were r...

The risks due to climate change heavily affect the Ivorian agriculture sector. This study aims to analyse the influence of extreme climatic parameters on sugar cane yield in the sugar complexes of Ferkessedougou. The methodological approach is based on redefining the agricultural season using the R-Instat software, and the correlation between extreme climatic parameters and sugar cane production is determined through statistical tests. The start date of the rainy season is on average May 28 in Ferkessedougou and June 4 in Korhogo, with standard deviations of 11 to 18 days. Early starts appear...
