Auteurs: Haffiata KONE-SORO, Kisselmina Youssouf Kone, Doudjo Soro, David Akaki
Date publication: 2022-11-19
Journal: GSC Online Press
Food industry and more specifically that of juices in Côte d'Ivoire, is gradually turning to local fruits. New products, sometimes derived from wild fruit species, are appearing on the market. The savannah plum tree (Vitex doniana) hitherto undervalued, is experiencing renewed interest due to its socio-economic importance for local populations. Its black plum fruit, rich in bioactive compounds, has been semi-industrially transformed into nectar. However, without the addition of preservatives, this nectar faces a probable reduced shelf life. The nectar used for this study was developed from fru...

Multi Relational and Social Influence Model for Predicting Student Performance in Intelligent Tutoring Systems ITS
Auteurs: Kouamé Abel Assielou, Cisse Théodore Haba, Tanon Lambert Kadjo, Kouakou Daniel Yao, Bi Tra Gooré
Date publication: 2020-02-28
Journal: Blue Eyes Intelligence Engineering and Sciences Engineering and Sciences Publication - BEIESP
Recent studies have shown that Matrix Factorization (MF) method, deriving from recommendation systems, can predict student performance as part of Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS). In order to improve the accuracy of this method, we hypothesize that taking into account the mutual influence effect in the relations of student groups would be a major asset. This criterion, coupled with those of the different relationships between the students, the tasks and the skills, would thus be essential elements for a better performance prediction in order to make personalized recommendations in the ITS. Multi-Parameter Statistical Analysis of K, Th, and U Concentrations in Eastern Senegal: Implications for the Interpretation of Airborne Radiometrics
Auteurs: Aïssata Thiam, D. Baratoux, Makhoudia Fall, Gayane Faye, Gbélé Ouattara
Date publication: 2023-08-30
Journal: MDPI AG
In geological mapping, maps of K, Th, and U concentrations provided by airborne radiometric surveys are widely used to delineate geological units in tropical regions from the few rare outcrops. Indeed, thanks to their specific geochemical properties and behaviors, K, Th, and U allow us to trace geological processes. However, the combination of the concentrations of these radioelements does not allow us to determine the lithology in a unique way. We examined the potential of delineating the statistical parameters of K, Th, and U concentrations for geological mapping using the purpose airborne r...

Auteurs: Denon Arthur Richmond Gono, Bi Tra Gooré, Yves Tiecoura, Kouamé Abel Assielou
Date publication: 2023-01-01
Journal: EJournal Publishing
Pedagogical models development requires several steps, one of which is the mapping of tasks and skills, also known as the educational items clustering. This activity of clustering educational items usually requires the participation of domain experts. However, discovering the exact skills involved in performing the tasks is a complex activity for them. This paper aims at solving the task and skill-mapping problem by proposing an approach based on the Weighted Multi-Relational Matrix Factoring technique to help experts in this task. This approach relies on two types of relationship, the “ stude...

Date publication: 2014-01-01
Journal: Springer International Publishing
AbstractThe current environmental and social awareness leads optimization researchers to be more and more concerned with multi-objective optimization problems (MOOPs). Evolutionary methods and particularly genetic algorithms are commonly used in chemical engineering, where the problems generally involve complex models embedded in an outer optimization loop. This paper first presents two multi-objective genetic algorithms to tackle continuous and mixed-integer chemical engineering problems. The algorithms are then illustrated by classical chemical engineering benchmark problems often used in th...

Multiplane Image Restoration Using Multivariate Curve Resolution: An Alternative Approach to Deconvolution in Conventional Brightfield Microscopy
Auteurs: Sylvere Bienvenue Dion, Don Jean François Ulrich Agre, Marcel Agnero, Jérémie T. Zoueu
Date publication: 2023-02-03
Journal: MDPI AG
Three-dimensional reconstruction in brightfield microscopy is challenging since a 2D image includes from in-focus and out-of-focus light which removes the details of the specimen’s structures. To overcome this problem, many techniques exist, but these generally require an appropriate model of Point Spread Function (PSF). Here, we propose a new images restoration method based on the application of Multivariate Curve Resolution (MCR) algorithms to a stack of brightfield microscopy images to achieve 3D reconstruction without the need for PSF. The method is based on a statistical reconstruction ap...

Disease caused by the bacterial pathogen "Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum" (Lso) represents a serious threat to solanaceous crop production. Insecticide applications to control the psyllid vector, Bactericera cockerelli Šulc (Hemiptera: Triozidae) has led to the emergence of resistance in psyllids populations. Efforts to select natural resistant cultivars have been marginally successful and have been complicated by the presence of distinct Lso haplotypes (LsoA, LsoB) differing in symptoms severity on potato and tomato. A potentially promising management tool is to boost host resistance to...

Efforts to select natural resistant cultivars have been marginally successful and have been complicated by the presence of distinct Lso haplotypes (LsoA, LsoB) differing in symptoms severity on potato and tomato. A potentially promising management tool is to boost host resistance to...

Auteurs: A. Betie, F. Meghnefi, I. Fofana, Z. Yeo, Hassan Ezzaidi
Date publication: 2015-08-01
Journal: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
This paper presents a study of the impact of two important parameters, moisture and aging of the oil/paper dielectric used as insulation in power transformers. The way in which these two parameters influence different parameters of the Frequency Domain Spectroscopy (FDS) measurements, is emphasized.Different FDS parameters were measured by varying the moisturecontent and the aging degree of the oil impregnated paper. The use of two types of neural networks for analysis of the results was necessary in order to help discriminating the impact of moisture and aging on the FDS measurements and, in so...

New Asymptotic Results on Fermat-Wiles Theorem
Auteurs: Kimou Kouadio Prosper, Kouakou Kouassi Vincent, Tanoé François
Date publication: 2024-01-01
Journal: Scientific Research Publishing, Inc.
We analyse the Diophantine equation of Fermat xp yp = zp with p > 2 a prime, x, y, z positive nonzero integers. We consider the hypothetical solution (a, b, c) of previous equation. We use Fermat main divisors, Diophantine remainders of (a, b, c), an asymptotic approach based on Balzano Weierstrass Analysis Theorem as tools. We construct convergent infinite sequences and establish asymptotic results including the following surprising one. If z – y = 1 then there exists a tight bound N such that, for all prime exponents p > N , we have xp yp ≠ zp.

New Detector Sensitivity Calibration and the Calculation of the Interaction Force between Particles Using an Optical Tweezer
Auteurs: Pavel Yale, Jean-Michel Edoukoua Konin, Michel Abaka Kouacou, Jérémie T. Zoueu
Date publication: 2018-08-24
Journal: MDPI AG
We propose a new approach to calculate the sensitivity factor of the detector in optical tweezers. In this work, we used a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera and a quadrant photodiode (QPD) for the extraction of the various positions occupied by the trapped object (in this case, silica beads of different diameters). Image-J software and the Boltzmann statistical method were then used to estimate the sensitivity of the detector. Silica beads of diameter 0.8 µm, 2 µm, a system of 2 µm bead stuck to 4.5 µm one and another system of 2 µm beads stuck to 2 µm one, were studied. This work contributes...

Nonlinear Control of an Induction Motor Using a Reduced-Order Extended Sliding Mode Observer for Rotor Flux and Speed Sensorless Estimation
Auteurs: Olivier Asseu, Michel Abaka Kouacou, T.R. Ori, Z. Yeo, Malandon Koffi, Xuefang Lin-Shi
Date publication: 2010-01-01
Journal: Scientific Research Publishing, Inc.
This article proposes an innovative strategy to the problem of non-linear estimation of states for electrical machine systems. This method allows the estimation of variables that are difficult to access or that are simply impossible to measure. Thus, as compared with a full-order sliding mode observer, in order to reduce the execution time of the estimation, a reduced-order discrete-time Extended sliding mode observer is proposed for on-line estimation of rotor flux, speed and rotor resistance in an induction motor using a robust feedback linearization control. Simulations results on Matlab-Si...

Nonlinear Feedback Linearization and Observation Algorithm for Control of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine
Auteurs: Olivier Asseu, T.R. Ori, K.E. Ali, Z. Yeo, Sié Ouattara, Xuefang Lin-Shi
Date publication: 2011-02-22
Journal: Science Alert
The aim of this study is to present a high dynamic current control and speed estimation strategy for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drives without a speed transducer. The strategy is based on the exact linearization methodology and Extended Sliding Mode Observer (ESMO) algorithm. The performances of the proposed control strategy are analysed by simulations for a 1.6 kW PMSM. The obtained results show the effectiveness of the proposed robust current control approach and speed observation algorithm under load torque and stator resistance variation.

The obtained results show the effectiveness of the proposed robust current control approach and speed observation algorithm under load torque and stator resistance variation.

Numerical blow-up for nonlinear diffusion equation with neumann boundary conditions
Auteurs: Ardjouma Ganon, Manin Mathurin Taha, N. Koffi, A. K. Touré
Date publication: 2020-07-03
Journal: International Scientific Research Publications MY SDN. BHD.
This work is concerned with the study of the numerical approximation for the nonlinear diffusion equationFirst, we obtain a semidiscrete scheme by the finite differences method and prove the convergence of its solution to the continuous one. Then, we establish the numerical blow-up and the convergence of the numerical blow-up time to the theoretical one when the mesh size goes to zero. Finally, we illustrate our analysis with some numerical experiments.
