Vers une structuration auto-stabilisante des réseaux Ad Hoc
Auteurs: Mandicou Ba, Olivier Flauzac, Bachar Salim Haggar, Rafik Makhloufi, Florent Nolot, Ibrahima Niang
Date publication: 2014-08-04
Journal: Centre pour la Communication Scientifique Directe (CCSD)
In this paper, we present a self-stabilizing asynchronous distributed clustering algorithm that builds non-overlapping k-hops clusters. Our approach does not require any initialization. It is based only on information from neighboring nodes with periodic messages exchange. Starting from an arbitrary configuration, the network converges to a stable state after a finite number of steps. Firstly, we prove that the stabilization is reached after at most n+2 transitions and requires (u+1)* log(2n+k+3) bits per node, whereΔu represents node's degree, n is the number of network nodes and k represents...

Auteurs: Moussa Dosso, Jacob Nandjui, Ángel Avadí
Date publication: 2024-05-02
Journal: Elsevier BV
African agriculture, and especially market vegetables production, which is dominated by smallholder systems, generally faces many challenges. There is growing interest in agroecology as a means to move towards more sustainable food and farming systems. The West African region is considered by FAO to feature the conditions to become "a global frontrunner in agroecology", and ongoing efforts in Côte d'Ivoire attempts to understand and promote agroecology in vegetable production. The objective of this study is to present a functional analysis of the Ivorian suburban market vegetables value chain,...

Unsupervised Image Segmentation with Pairwise Markov Chains Based on Nonparametric Estimation of Copula Using Orthogonal Polynomials
Auteurs: Armand Kodjo Atiampo, Georges Laussane Loum
Date publication: 2016-10-01
Journal: World Scientific Pub Co Pte Ltd
Copula were introduced in Markov models in the early 2000s to better model the relationship between the observation data involved in these models. However, their estimation is difficult. This paper presents a new approach in the estimation of copula in Markov models. The proposed approach is based on a nonparametric method of estimating the density of the copula. The decomposition of an orthonormal basis of the unit interval support polynomials is used to estimate this density. The family of polynomial used is built from the family of Legendre polynomials. Our approach has the major advantage...

Unsupervised Segmentation Method of Multicomponent Images based on Fuzzy Connectivity Analysis in the Multidimensional Histograms
Auteurs: Sié Ouattara, Georges Laussane Loum, A.H. Clément
Date publication: 2011-01-01
Journal: Scientific Research Publishing, Inc.
Image segmentation denotes a process for partitioning an image into distinct regions, it plays an important role in interpretation and decision making. A large variety of segmentation methods has been developed; among them, multidimensional histogram methods have been investigated but their implementation stays difficult due to the big size of histograms. We present an original method for segmenting n-D (where n is the number of components in image) images or multidimensional images in an unsupervised way using a fuzzy neighbourhood model. It is based on the hierarchical analysis of full n-D c...

Effects of FDI on the Growth of Agricultural Sector in Côte d'Ivoire: An Empirical Analysis Based on Toda-Yamamoto Causality Tests and ARDL Cointegration
Auteurs: Jean Baptiste Tiémélé, Kone Djakaridja, B. G. Jean Jacques Iritié
Date publication: 2024-10-17
Journal: Canadian Center of Science and Education
This paper analyses the contribution of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to agricultural growth in Côte d'Ivoire over the period 1980-2021. The data come from World Development Indicators WDI (World Bank). The Toda-Yamamoto causality test and the ARDL cointegration approach are used. The results of the Toda-Yamamoto test show no causal link between FDI and agricultural growth, while those of the ARDL approach indicate that FDI has a negative impact on agricultural growth. There are several reasons for these results: insufficient resources allocated to the agricultural sector a...

Thus, iron-rich electrocoagulation sludge has been thermally treated to obtain new catalysts. The characterization of this catalyst by X-ray diffraction revealed the presence of FeAl2O4 nanoparticles active in the decomposition of persulfate into sulfate radicals (SO4•-). The efficiency of catalyst/persulfate was monitored during the methylene blue (MB) solution discoloration. The effects of temperature, pH, initial MB concentration, catalyst dose and persulfate d...

Efficient Reduction of Overgeneration Errors for Automatic Controlled Indexing with an Application to the Biomedical Domain
Auteurs: Samassi Adama, Brou André Konan, Gooré Bi, Prosper Kimou
Date publication: 2018-01-01
Journal: The Science and Information Organization
Studies on MetaMap and MaxMatcher has shown that both concept extraction systems suffer from overgeneration problems. Over-generation occurs when the extraction systems mistakenly select an irrelevant concept. One of the reasons for these errors is that these systems use the words to weight the terms of the concepts. In this paper, an Integer Linear Programming model is used to select the optimal subset of extracted concept mentions covering the largest number of important words in the document to be indexed. Then each concept mentions that this set is mapped to a unique concept in UMLS using...

Electrochemical Cells and Storage Technologies to Increase Renewable Energy Share in Cold Climate Conditions—A Critical Assessment
Auteurs: Yao Ahoutou, Adrian Ilinca, Mohamad Issa
Date publication: 2022-02-21
Journal: MDPI AG
The energy efficiency of a renewable energy system is inextricably linked to the energy storage technologies used in conjunction with it. The most extensively utilized energy storage technology for all purposes is electrochemical storage batteries, which have grown more popular over time because of their extended life, high working voltage, and low self-discharge rate. However, these batteries cannot withstand the very low temperatures encountered in cold regions, even with these very promising technical characteristics. The cold northern temperatures affect the batteries’ electromotive force...

The reduction of energy consumption in elastic optical networks is of major interest to the research community. As a result, several methods for solving this problem in combination with existing classical problems have been proposed. Elastic optical networks are subject to disturbance phenomena that degrade their quality and performance. To optimize resources, operators must recalculate new routes and plan the displacement of established connections towards these new routes to cope with these phenomena, it’s the reconfiguration. The problem addressed in this article is to reconfigure a set of...

Enhancing Compressed Earth Block Performance: Effects of Gelatinized Starch and Fiber Reinforcement on Mechanical Properties
Auteurs: Gabo Cyprien Bailly, Yassine El Mendili, Athanas Konin, Eliane Khoury
Date publication: 2024-12-31
Journal: Amar Telidji University of Laghouat
This study investigates the impact of starch stabilization and fiber reinforcement on the mechanical properties of Compressed Earth Blocks (CEBs). Various stabilization methods were tested to enhance the mechanical performance of CEBs, with a focus on starch as a natural binder and the incorporation of hemp as natural fibers. The research findings indicate that while starch slightly reduced internal cohesion by 13%, the addition of fibers alone significantly improved compression resistance by increasing strength by a factor of 3.57. When combined with starch, the effectiveness of fibers on com...
