Lessons to Learn from Post-Installation Pollution Levels Assessment of Some Distribution Insulators
Auteurs: I. Fofana, Janvier Sylvestre N'Cho, A. Betie, Epiphane Hounton, F. Meghnefi, Kouba Marie Lucia Yapi
Date publication: 2020-08-06
Journal: MDPI AG
Among the main causes of outdoor insulation failures is their poor specifications in terms of leakage distances. This happens when the selected criteria are unable to cope with all the stresses imposed by the changes in environmental pollutions. Therefore, it is important for utilities to fully understand the actual pollution characteristics of the service environment in which the insulators are operating. In this paper, the pollution severity and performance of some 13.2 kV ceramic insulators, sampled in different areas of a Canadian aluminum factory, are assessed. The investigations were per...

LGMD: Optimal Lightweight Metadata Model for Indexing Learning Games
Auteurs: Maho Wielfrid Morie, Iza Marfisi-Schottman, Bi Tra Gooré
Date publication: 2020-01-01
Journal: Springer International Publishing
AbstractLearning Games (LGs) have proven to be effective in a large variety of academic fields and for all levels; from kindergarten to professional training. They are therefore very valuable learning resources that should be shared and reused. However, the lack of catalogues that allow teachers to find existing LGs is a significant obstacle to their use in class. It is difficult for catalogues, or any type of search engine, to index LGs because they are poorly referenced. Yet, many researches have proposed elaborate metadata models for LGs. However, all these models are extensions of LOM, a m...

Auteurs: Koimbla Francine Josée Kouacou, Adama Ouattara, Alain Stéphane Assémian, Kouassi Benjamin Yao
Date publication: 2023-01-23
Journal: AccScience Publishing
During refining operations, desalting wastewater provides 10-30% of the total wastewater volumes and contains 40-70% of the pollutants in the wastewater treatment unit. Desalting consists of removing impurities from the crude oil with washing water. The discharge of treated water into the receptor environment is controlled according to standards regulation. However, due to human health and environmental risks, a multi-criteria and multi-stage analysis must be carried out. This present study aims to identify critical sources of wastewater treatment impacts from desalting operations. Life cycle...

Litho-Structural and Metallotectic Context of the Mineralization of the Tondabo Gold Prospect (Brobo, Center of Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa)
Auteurs: DaÏ Bi Seydou Mathurin, Gbélé Ouattara, Allou Gnanzou, Koffi Gnammytchet Barthélémy, Coulibaly Inza
Date publication: 2022-10-28
Journal: Book Publisher International (a part of SCIENCEDOMAIN International)
Rhyodacite and mafic volcanics are the principal hosts of the gold mineralization at the Tondabo prospect, which is located in the northern portion of the Oume-Toumodi-Fettekro greenstone belt (volcanic lavas and volcanoclastites). These rocks underwent a hydrothermal alteration that was characterised by quartz veins and veinlets containing carbonates, sericite, epidote, and sulphide crystals. By silicifying, chloritizing, carbonating, and sericitizing the feldspars, this hydrothermal alteration brought about a ubiquitous alteration of the nearby bodies. Pyrite is prevalent in the metalliferou...

Symbiotic nitrogen fixation between legumes and rhizobia involves a coordinated expression of many plant and bacterial genes as well as finely tuned metabolic activities of micro- and macrosymbionts. In spite of such complex interactions, symbiotic proficiency remains a resilient process, with host plants apparently capable of compensating for some deficiencies in rhizobia. What controls nodule homeostasis is still poorly understood and probably varies between plant species. In this respect, the promiscuous Sinorhizobium (Ensifer) fredii strain NGR234 has become a model to assess the relative...

Date publication: 2020-01-01
Journal: The Science and Information Organization
This paper addresses a production and distribution problem in a supply chain. The supply chain consists of a plant with no storage capacity that produces only one type of product. The manufactured products are then transported to a depot for storage. Customers demand is met by a homogeneous fleet of vehicles that begins and ends their trips at the depot. The objective of the study is to minimize the overall cost of production, inventory and transport throughout the supply chain. A Branch-and-Cut and a hybrid Two Phases Decomposition Heuristic using a Mixed Integer Programming and a Genetic Alg...

The accuracy, reliability, speed and cost of the methods used for malaria diagnosis are key to the diseases' treatment and eventual eradication. However, improvement in any one of these requirements can lead to deterioration of the rest due to their interdependence. We propose an optical method that provides fast detection of malaria-infected red blood cells (RBCs) at a lower cost. The method is based on the combination of deconvolution, topography and three-dimensional (3D) refractive index reconstruction of the malaria-infected RBCs by use of the transport of intensity equation. Measurement of the Relative Free Radical Content of Insulating Oils of Petroleum Origin
Auteurs: I. Fofana, J. Sabau, A. Betie
Date publication: 2015-07-28
Journal: MDPI AG
Oil/paper insulation degradation in transformers involves chemical and physical changes in the materials. Some of the chemical reactions involve very reactive intermediates called free radicals. Free radicals play a major role in a wide variety of ageing processes. The detection of these reactive species in oil may, in principle, provide useful information for monitoring oil degradation. This manuscript details a laboratory technique, which determines the relative content of free radicals in insulating oils of petroleum origin by a spectrophotometric method. Free radicals may be formed in oils...

Minimization of Spectrum Fragmentation for Improvement of the Quality of Service in Multifiber Elastic Optical Networks
Auteurs: Boris Stephane ZOUNEME, Georges Nogbou, Souleymane Oumtanaga
Date publication: 2020-01-01
Journal: The Science and Information Organization
Internet data traffic is still growing considerably in recent decades. In view of this exponential and dynamic growth, elastic optical networks are emerging as a promising solution for today's flexibly allocated bandwidth transmission technologies. The setup and release of dynamic connections with different spectrum bandwidths and data rates leads over time to spectrum fragmentation in the network. However, single-fiber eastic optical networks are faced with the problem of optical spectrum fragmentation. Spectrum fragmentation refers to small blocks, isolated, non-aligned spectrum segments whi...
