Abstract The aging process of the insulating oils of an electrical transformer is initiated as soon as the transformer is put into service. The quality of these oils must therefore be rigorously evaluated to have reliable and exploitable data for decision‐making. In general, the decision is to continue monitoring, reclaiming/regenerating, or replacing the oil in extreme cases. Thus, early diagnosis of power transformer oils helps prevent potential breakdowns that could considerably impact the electrical energy transmission and distribution network. This research used an imaging technique calle...

Effect of Using Germinated and Fermented Lupin and Oats as a Dietary Protein Source on Laying Hen Performance and Egg Quality
Auteurs: Koffigan Kponouglo, Gningnini Alain Koné, Margaret Good, Noël Grosset, Michel Gautier, Maryline Kouba
Date publication: 2024-10-31
Journal: MDPI AG
Soybean meal is the dominant protein source for poultry nutrition. However, soybean is not widely grown in Europe, necessitating importation from other countries. To reduce dependency on imported soybean meal, an alternative feed material is needed. Fermentation and/or germination of grains are known to increase the value of the protein content of a diet. This study aimed to determine if they could substitute partly soybean meal in a diet. Germinated or fermented or germinated and fermented grains of lupin and oats were used in laying hen’s diet (a mix of 6.50% lupin and 3.50% oat grains). Oat...

AbstractBuilding lighter but stronger has been a major industrial concern in recent decades. To achieve its goals, Altuglas International, a subsidiary of the Arkema group, has developed several types of nanostructured acrylic glass materials, that are lighter and more resistant than glass PMMA. Combining PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) and a nanostructured elastomer, this material has perfect transparency and special mechanical properties. In addition to its automotive applications, its exceptional properties open up prospects in aeronautics and safety glazing. In the present study, different...

The sustainable management of waste generated by human activities is now a global concern. The valorization of waste by pyrolysis is a recycling method aiming at obtaining a biochar which can contribute to improve the fertility of soils and to limit the use of chemical fertilizers. It is in this perspective that the present study aims to valorize cassava peelings into biochar. Slow pyrolysis was applied for biochar production using an artisanal oven at 400 °C and the obtained biochar was characterized. FTIR analysis revealed that cassava peelings biochar consists of hydrophilic surface functio...

Methane and Krypton Adsorption on Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes
Auteurs: M. Muris, Nathalie Dufau, M. Bienfait, N. Dupont-Pavlovsky, Y. Grillet, J. P. Palmari
Date publication: 2000-07-29

Methane and krypton adsorption measured on single-walled nanotubes at 78.7 and 77.3 K, respectively, give rise to stepwise isotherms, representative of the adsorption on two types of comparatively uniform patches during the first stages of the adsorbate condensation. The values of the methane isosteric heat of adsorption on these two fractions of quasi-uniform surface, determined from the dependence of the equilibrium pressure on temperature between 78 and 110 K, are in very good agreement with those measured at 77.3 K by means of isothermal microcalorimetry in quasi-equilibrium. Their respect...

Assessing insulating oil degradation by means of turbidity and UV/VIS spectrophotometry measurements
Auteurs: Yazid Hadjadj, I. Fofana, J. Sabau, E. Briosso
Date publication: 2015-10-01
Journal: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
Oil is a vital part of the transformer body and (similarly to blood in a human being body) keeps responsibility for the condition of the entire organism. Oil is particularly responsible for functional serviceability of the entire insulation system. The insulating oil must be kept in pristine condition, since its condition can be a decisive factor, which determines the life span of the transformer. Fields and laboratory experiences have shown that transformer oil contains a vast amount of information. Oil analyses can be extremely useful in monitoring the condition of power transformers. Date publication: 2023-12-27
Journal: Turkish Science and Technology Publishing (TURSTEP)
Yam (Dioscorea spp) occupies an important place in the diet of the populations of Côte d’Ivoire. It is a real source of starch and therefore generates enormous commercial potential. However, the decrease in production due to pest attacks represents a real threat to this crop. This study was conducted with the aim of improving yam production in Côte d’Ivoire. To do so, isolations carried out on yam leaves showing symptoms of foliar diseases have allowed us to identify 9 fungal genera. These were Colletotrichum sp., Fusarium sp., Pestalotiopsis sp., Pestalotia sp., Botryodiplodia sp., Aspergillu...

In this paper, we present a self-stabilizing asynchronous distributed clustering algorithm that builds non-overlapping k-hops clusters. Our approach does not require any initialization. It is based only on information from neighboring nodes with periodic messages exchange. Starting from an arbitrary configuration, the network converges to a stable state after a finite number of steps. Firstly, we prove that the stabilization is reached after at most n+2 transitions and requires (u+1)* log(2n+k+3) bits per node, whereΔu represents node's degree, n is the number of network nodes and k represents...
