In this paper, the theory of plausible and paradoxical reasoning of Dezert- Smarandache (DSmT) is used to take into account the paradoxical charac-ter through the intersections of vegetation, aquatic and mineral surfaces. In order to do this, we developed a classification model of pixels by aggregating information using the DSmT theory based on the PCR5 rule using the ∩NDVI, ∩MNDWI and ∩NDBaI spectral indices obtained from the ASTER satellite images. On the qualitative level, the model produced three simple classes for certain knowledge (E, V, M) and eight composite classes including two union...

Mitigation of cold stress in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) through dietary lipids supplementation: a preliminary network meta-analysis
Auteurs: Crespin Luc Quenum, Chris Major Ncho, Souleima Dhahbi, Olumide Samuel Olowe
Date publication: 2023-07-15
Journal: Springer Science and Business Media LLC
AbstractThere is a growing body of evidence suggesting that water temperature can significantly impact the dietary fatty acid requirements of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Therefore, this study assessed the effectiveness of different dietary lipid sources on the growth performance of Nile tilapia reared at suboptimal temperatures. A network meta-analysis was performed, including searches of PubMed and Scopus from inception to January 2022, for trials that evaluated the effects of lipid sources on cold-stressed Nile tilapia. The Bayesian hierarchical framework was used to pool and compa...

Optical analysis of cylindrical–parabolic concentrators: validity limits for models of solar disk intensity
Auteurs: Rubén O. Nicolás
Date publication: 1987-09-15
Journal: Scientific Research Publishing, Inc.
Different optical analysis of cylindrical-parabolic concentrators were made by utilizing four models of intensity distribution of the solar disk, i.e., square, uniform, real, and Gaussian. In this paper, the validity conditions using such distributions are determined by calculating each model of the intensity distribution on the receiver plane of perfect and nonperfect cylindrical-parabolic concentrators. We call nonperfect concentrators those in which the normal to each differential element of the specular surface departs from its correct position by an angle sigma(epsilon), the possible valu...

Auteurs: Yao Joseph Adjoumani, Pierre Dablé, Konan Edmond Kouassi, Soumahoro Gueu, Alain Stéphane Assémian, Kouassi Benjamin Yao
Date publication: 2019-01-01
Journal: Scientific Research Publishing, Inc.
This work deals with phosphate ions removal in aqueous solution by adsorption carried out using two clays, both in activated form. One, non-swelling clay, rich in kaolinite, is associated with illite and quartz. The other, swelling, richer in montmorillonite, is associated with kaolinite, illite and quartz. Seven factors including these two clays were taken into account in a series of experimental designs in order to model and optimize the acidic activation process favoring a better phosphate removal. In addition to the choice of clay nature, the study was also interested in the identification...

Modeling the Insulation Paper Drying Process from Thermogravimetric Analyses
Auteurs: A. Betie, F. Meghnefi, I. Fofana, Z. Yeo
Date publication: 2018-02-28
Journal: MDPI AG
It is now well-established that moisture in the oil paper insulation used in power and instrument transformers significantly reduces the transformers’ lifetimes, and can eventually lead to premature failure. This moisture should, therefore, always be removed, not only during production but also after repairs. At the final stage of manufacturing, the drying process should be carried out to remove water and air vacuoles contained in the cellulose-based paper before impregnation. Successful drying helps increase the residual life of transformers, because the presence of moisture and air vacuoles...

Monitoring of stability evolution of micro filtered black plum nectar from Côte d'Ivoire during storage
Auteurs: Haffiata KONE-SORO, Kisselmina Youssouf Kone, Doudjo Soro, David Akaki
Date publication: 2022-11-19
Journal: GSC Online Press
Food industry and more specifically that of juices in Côte d'Ivoire, is gradually turning to local fruits. New products, sometimes derived from wild fruit species, are appearing on the market. The savannah plum tree (Vitex doniana) hitherto undervalued, is experiencing renewed interest due to its socio-economic importance for local populations. Its black plum fruit, rich in bioactive compounds, has been semi-industrially transformed into nectar. However, without the addition of preservatives, this nectar faces a probable reduced shelf life. The nectar used for this study was developed from fru...
